This trail is nestled in the Humbug Spires Wilderness Study Area about 45 minutes south of Butte, Mt. and is ideally located between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. Whether you stay overnight, or just looking for an easy and quiet hike to let the fur babies stretch their legs, this trail fits the bill.
I would liken it to a miniature Yosemite due to the exposed granite rock faces that surround the trail. The round-trip hike is about 7.5 miles, but I have only done a little over 2 miles of it. The entire trail is great for a relaxing hike, but if you do make it to the end there are areas for rock climbing. Along the hike, the narrow meadows and granite peaks make for spectacular backdrops for photography. The trail is also right across the interstate from the Big Hole River, if fishing is on your to do list. Make sure to check the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks website for current regulations and restrictions.
